The Circle – Mix by Simon Scott (Edition 19) 29 September 09
Brought to you by Arctic Circle Radio, the Circle is a new weekly podcast that takes you on a one-hour journey based on the most simple and significant of shapes. Every Circle is unique; formed from a guest curator’s musical landscape and they all share the same revolutionary quality: each one ends at the point where it began.
Edition 19 – Mix by Simon Scott: I begin this mix with an Isan remix by Taylor Deupree, a consistantly brilliant artist, who created this mix for my Kesh label to be released in 2010. I had to include Svarte as Erik and I have been playing live dates together this summer and his music and label Miasmah are gloriously celebratory of following your heart musically, even if it leads you into the dark corners of your creativity. Some of these artists I have been lucky enough to work with including Brian Eno and Machinefabriek. I complete the circle mix with the original sound installation piece by Isan that Taylor worked from and all tracks flow well in my opinion, particularly at 11.30pm with a nice large glass of shiraz!

It represents perhaps the more ’subtle’ sounds from a project bringing
together experimental artists from the UK, US and Australia. Each artist
has taken 4 core audio parts, and done whatever they like them to create 4
new tracks. They are then released as an EP ‘Version’, and will be brought
together for a box set in 2010.
