In a way it felt like starting with music from scratch again because it is so different from recording music on your own. We just came back from the USA, where I’ve been driving around with my drummer Mads for some weeks, and I’m a lot more comfortable with the idea of sharing music in that way now than I was just some months ago. And we got to tour with a San Francisco band called the Dodos, they are great guys and it was inspiring to see them play every night, they’ve been touring for some years now and it shows, they really know what they’re doing. I’ve been touring a lot and then not had any time for recording, and all that playing makes my head burst with new things to do. I’m not going to analyse too much but I know it will be fun to have the time to stay at home a bit and record things. Also the spring and the warm weather is doing miracles here, in Berlin everything looks so alive and optimistic then compared to the grey winter. We are going back to play in the UK in May and that will be fun. I’m sure there are a lot of changes to come but I try not to plan too much and just do whatever feels right!” www.myspace.com/siljenes EFTERKLANG TOO Casting our minds back to the Queen Elizabeth Hall and Efterlkang; here’s what they said when we caught up with them just before that memorable gig. Recently, we played a very special concert in a little town called Sønderborg where 3 of us grew up. It's been 8 years since we've been there, and the backstage room were just next to the rehearsal space, where we used to rehearse as kids. A couple of days ago we arrived to the UK by ferry, extremely excited about this upcoming UK tour, but even before the day had really begun, we lost our violin player Peter to the UK immigration service, because he didn't have a proper work permission (we are of another opinion - but that did not change their decision). He was put in a small stinky room, marked with a big fat cross in his passport and send back with the ferry again, rocking in a free world... We had to cancel or concert in Southampton , which feels like shit - he will be back with us soon. We're very much trying to scale down our musical outcome to the absolute minimum at the moment, which feels like a natural progression from what we've been doing until now. At the moment we have an extremely nice group of musicians/composers around us (in our live band), which inspires us a lot. We're going to do a US tour in May for the very first time. It's been a goal for us for a long time, and quite a project! Also, this show in Queen Elizabeth Hall London is very exiting for us. We've heard so many nice things about the venue, and we're playing with two of our favourite bands at the moment; Wildbirds & Peacedrums and Our Broken Garden, so I'm sure it'll be a special night! Also we should mention that we will release a new single very soon! Caravan will be available on 7" vinyl and digitally and there will also be an explosive video!! Stay tuned.” www.mysp SOME REVIEWS OF AC SHOW: www.drownedinsound.com/articles/3140835 http://godisinthetvzine.co.uk/content/content_detail.php?id=2370&type=Live http://beardedmagazine.co.uk/wp/?p=156 www.subba-cultcha.com/article_live.php?id=5305
This morning I awoke and undertook my usual routine of exercises and it was while I was reaching for my toes that the most appalling sound echoed through the corridors and caused me to toppled over. From my somewhat undignified position on the floor I witnessed a platinum blonde bear entering my room “Bob!’ it wailed and it was then I noticed it was clutching a bottle of Russian vodka and smoking a Victory Slim. “Bob, you cannot escape!” Recovering my composure I pointed down the hall, at which she turned and vanished. And this, dear reader, was the sudden and unexpected arrival of Tatiana Marina Tchaikovskaya III, Soviet Figure Skating coach extraordinaire, of fur coat and sadistic temper. It would seem that our very own Mad Scientist Bob escaped the clutches of her government skating school before he signed up to the research programme and Tchaikovskaya, consumed with fury has been tracking him down ever since. Oh reader when will it end? After all we have been through, our little band of castaways in a frozen ocean. Who would have known that the worst was yet to come! As I write she is on the ice field putting Head Yeti Keeper through a punishing routine encompassing all the main elements essential to his participation in international competition. The poor chap is doing well, although he persists in botching the take-off to his double Lutz toe loop combination. Can a skating penguin be compliant with ISU regulations? I fear we may find out the hard and slippery way. In some trepidation Chief Penguin
